Ordering your first pattern from Pattern Room? Here's the short version: a single size pattern gets you a basic make sheet to test your fit. A graded pattern set gets you the full, production-ready tech pack with graded specs across every size. Here's how they're different, and why we recommend testing before you scale.

Single Size Pattern — Basic Make Sheet

When you order a single size, you get the pattern files for that one size, plus a basic make sheet — enough information to cut and sew a sample in your own fabric and see how it fits.

A single size purchase is a test, not a finished production file. It's built for one thing: checking the fit is right before you commit to a full graded set. It doesn't include graded specs, because there's nothing to grade yet — you're working with one size only.

Graded Pattern Set — Full Tech Pack with Graded Specs

When you order a full graded set, you get every size in your chosen range, plus the complete tech pack — graded specs across the whole range, ready to hand straight to your manufacturer.

This is the production-ready file. If you're placing an order with a factory, this is what they need.

Our Recommended Path

Fit First, Always — so we always recommend testing before you scale:

  1. Order a single size pattern to test in your own fabric.
  2. Book a fitting with Julia to walk through any changes.
  3. Order the full graded set once you're happy with the fit.

It costs the same to make a garment whether the pattern is a good fit or not, so it's worth getting it right before you commit to grading across your full size range.

Which One Do I Need?

  • Testing your fit for the first time? Start with a single size pattern and basic make sheet.
  • Ready to go into production? Order the full graded pattern set for the complete tech pack with graded specs.
